A year or so after my wedding I did the big chop. If you're not mixed or black you may not be familiar with the phrase. It's cutting off your chemically straightened hair to grow your natural hair back. At this point I was done with living to western beauty standards. This was my first radical act of self love, of loving who creator God had made me. Lets not pretend that longer hair and straight hair has been coveted in our communities, cutting it all off to go curly was not a little thing. Especially 20 years ago. I didn't always love how my hair looked or came out in those early days. Especially as it reached the awkward length phase but I knew I wanted to be able to myself and be ok. Forward 20 years and I'm in a different place with my hair. Some days I have fluffy edges that aren't slicked down 😆 p.s if you want more info on loving your natural hair check out @paigelewinofficial Going natural was part of my healing and self acceptance journey. People still "wow" when they see old pictures of me with longer straight hair and I get it, but I'm in a place now where it won't affect how I feel about how my hair or the how I look today. Today is Pentecost when the spirit of God lit the church and we believers got to receive God's Spirit alive and living within us for personal transformation and to build his kingdom. Be blessed 🕊️

I'm spending my Saturday in silence — not scrolling, not talking, just being still before God. It’s uncomfortable. Vulnerable. Revealing. But it’s in the silence that we hear Him most clearly. ✨ Be still and know. ✨ I've prescheduled this post while I'm a silent prayer retreat being hosted by the spiritual director who has helped me greatly on my faith journey. This ancient contemplative practise has been just one for the many things I've been exploring this last 18 months and been part of my faith based inner healing and walking ever more closely in my God given identity. Brand New Era was birthed through this journey. It's about uncovering, healing, becoming and using our gifts, stories and voices to share God's message of love, grace, eternal life and healing. The reason Christian woman aren't getting the results in business/coaching/mentoring courses As kingdom women we aim to align our lives with Kingdom values and Gods word That can be hard to do when you're in a program and find out the hosts world views and some of their teaching either directly goes against God's word or more often is misaligned. You're learning something practical but the host brings in tarot cards or advice from their spiritual guides. This has happened so often to myself and friends. Holy Spirit discernment kicks in and you find yourself wondering how to engage with the rest of the course or content. You find yourself filtering the content or trying to put it through a biblical lens and it's really quite exhausting. You now find it hard to be fully behind the program you've paid for and the doubts start to rise. How much of their content is influenced from other sources? What if you ignore that bit but focus on the skills parts? I think you can see how that sort of thinking is going to make it really hard to get amazing results from the program. Belief and getting behind something is a big part of success and also trusting enough so you can actually take the action. The Bible talks about the double minded man should not expecting to receive anything. It's very hard to benefit when you're in 2 opposite minds! But how do you align your trust/faith when you sense the spiritual red flags? I found myself struggling more and more and knew I was being called into faith based settings. I didn't think I was going to be one of those creating the setting but here we are, as I follow God's pull and direction.
